Dell, a company that you would normally associate with laptops and desktop PCs, is now getting into the mobile phone business here in India.
The company has launched a major ad campaign in all major newspapers inviting “distributors” for their mobile phones though the timeframe is not exactly clear nor do we know the kind of phones that they are planning to sell in India.
Except for Android based Dell Aero and Dell Streak, which is more like a mini-tablet than a smart phone, Dell has little to offer as far as phones are concerned. There are reports that Dell is working on a Windows Phone 7 based device called the Dell Lightning but we don’t know if this is real.
The mobile market in India is huge but it’s a fairly price-sensitive one at the same time – most people still prefer a BlackBerry or a Nokia smartphone over an iPhone. It will therefore be interesting to see what Dell has in store for Indian mobile users.

Google Instant
Search: now faster than the speed of type
Search as you type. It’s a simple and straightforward idea—people can get results as they type their queries. Imagining the future of search, the idea of being able to search for partial queries or provide some interactive feedback while searching has come up more than a few times. Along the way, we’ve even built quite a few demos (notably, Amit Patel in 1999 and Nikhil Bhatla in 2003). Our search-as-you-type demos were thought-provoking—fun, fast and interactive—but fundamentally flawed. Why? Because you don’t really want search-as-you-type (no one wants search results for [bike h] in the process of searching for [bike helmets]). You really want search-before-you-type—that is, you want results for the most likely search given what you have already typed.
As you can imagine, searching even before someone types isn’t easy—which is why we are so excited today to be unveiling Google Instant. Google Instant is search-before-you-type. Instant takes what you have typed already, predicts the most likely completion and streams results in real-time for those predictions—yielding a smarter and faster search that is interactive, predictive and powerful.
Here are a few of the core features in Google Instant:

- Dynamic Results - Google dynamically displays relevant search results as you type so you can quickly interact and click through to the web content you need.
- Predictions - One of the key technologies in Google Instant is that we predict the rest of your query (in light gray text) before you finish typing. See what you need? Stop typing, look down and find what you’re looking for.
- Scroll to search - Scroll through predictions and see results instantly for each as you arrow down

HYBRID POSITIONING SYSTEM
Hybrid positioning systems are systems for finding the location of a mobile device using several different positioning technologies. Usually GPS (Global Positioning System) is one major component of such systems, combined with cell tower signals, wireless internet signals, Bluetooth sensors or other local Positioning Systems. These systems are specifically designed to overcome the limitations of GPS, which is very exact in open areas, but works poorly indoors or between tall buildings (the urban canyon effect). By comparison, cell tower signals are not hindered by buildings or bad weather, but usually provide less precise positioning. Wi-Fi signals may give very exact positioning, but only in urban areas with high Wi-Fi density - and depend on a comprehensive database of Wi-Fi access points.
Hybrid positioning systems are increasingly being explored for certain civilian and commercial location-based services and location-based media, which need to work well in urban areas in order to be commercially and practically viable.Different hybrid positioning systems are currently being developed and used in services from Navizon, Xtify, PlaceEngine, SkyHook, Devicescape, Google Maps for Mobile for application in smartphones. The maturity of the approaches used by these systems needs to be proved in operational use.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
Chennai Super Kings (Tamil: சென்னை சூப்பர் கிங்ஸ்) (often abbreviated as CSK) is a franchise cricket team based in Chennai who play in the Indian Premier League. The team is led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and coached by Stephen Fleming. The M. A. Chidambaram Stadium (often referred to as Chepauk) is the Super Kings' home ground. They are the current holders of the IPL trophy having won the 2010 Indian Premier League. They were the runners-up of the inaugaral season and the semi-finalists of the second edition. They also have been the only side to make it to the semi-finals in all the three tournaments. The Chennai Super Kings have been in the Champions League twice, the first one being 2008 edition that was cancelled and are yet to take part in the 2010 Season.
Franchise history:
The Chennai Super Kings are a part of the Indian Premier League, made up of 10 teams. The franchise is currently owned by India Cements, who paid US $91 million to acquire the rights to the franchise for 10 years in 2008. N. Srinivasan, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of India Cements Ltd., is the defacto owner of the Chennai Super Kings, by means of his position within the company. He is also the Secretary of the BCCI.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth, former captain of the Indian Cricket Team, is the brand ambassador for the franchise at present, and former Indian opener V. B. Chandrasekhar is the Chief Selector. To gather more support from local fans, actor Joseph Vijay and actress Nayantara were also appointed as ambassadors. Nayanthara was later removed because she could not attend matches. Vijay served as the brand Ambassador till the end of 2009 season and has since then given up his position due to his other commitments.
2008 season:
During the first player auctions for the inaugural IPL season, conducted in January 2008, the Chennai team was able to outbid its competitors to buy current Indian team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for $1,5 million, winning the highest bid.
The Super Kings had a solid start to their 2008 IPL Season, winning their first 4 matches. However, their top order and bowling attack took a hit after Matthew Hayden, Mike Hussey and Jacob Oram left the team for international duty. The team's performance reflected this, as they proceeded to lose their next 3 matches. The batting, although inconsistent, eventually adjusted to the losses of Hayden and Hussey with contributions from Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Albie Morkel. The gap in the team's bowling left by Oram's departure was eventually filled by the arrival of Makhaya Ntini and Albie Morkel (both of whom were playing the Pro20 domestic tournament in South Africa during the start of the tournament) and the emergence of Manpreet Gony. A win in the final league match against the Deccan Chargers ensured their progress into the semi-finals, finishing the group stage at third rank.
The team defeated the Kings XI Punjab in the semifinal by 9 wickets, thus entering the final, which they lost to Rajasthan Royals by three wickets off the last ball. The Super Kings were the team to post the highest total in the tournament (240 against Kings XI Punjab), which was only broken in the 2010 season by the Super Kings themselves. Moreover, Lakshmipathy Balaji took the first hat-trick of the IPL in the second match against the Punjab team. The team also won the Fly Kingfisher Fair Play Awards. Suresh Raina scored the most runs (421) for Chennai, while Manpreet Gony took most wickets (17).
2009 season
Apart from Andrew Flintoff, Thilan Thushara from Sri Lanka, George Bailey from Tasmania, Australia and Murali Vijay, the Tamil Nadu batsman who played for India in two test matches, and Sudeep Tyagi, who had missed the 2008 season due to injury, returned for the second season, which has held in South Africa. In addition, Shadab Jakati of Goa was also added to the team, a left field selection by V. B. Chandrasekhar, the team's Director of Cricketing Operations. Five players, Srikanth Anirudha, Sivaramakrishnan Vidyut, Selvam Suresh Kumar, Abhinav Mukund and Napoleon Einstein were sent back from South Africa to trim the squad. Michael Hussey opted out of the 2009 season, however, he decided to come back for the semi-finals but was not picked to play though. Andrew Flintoff picked up a knee injury and was withdrawn from the tournament and returned to England early in the tournament.
The Super Kings played the first match of the tournament, which they lost to the Mumbai IndiansRoyal Challengers Bangalore by 92 runs, beforing losing their next two matches. However, things took a turn with a five-game winning streak for the Super Kings, eventually even taking the top spot. They entered the semifinals after their win against Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets, finishing the group stage at second, where they were eliminated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. by 19 runs. They won the second match against the
Mathew Hayden was the Orange cap winner, being the leading run scorer in IPL 2009, scoring 572 runs in 12 matches with an average of 52 and strike rate of 144.81. Meanwhile, Muttiah Muralitharan had the best economy rate of the tournament (5.22) and was also Chennai's highest wicket taker (14).
2010 season
The Super Kings added three new overseas players to their roster: Justin Kemp, Thissara Perera and Doug Bollinger. One of these two will fill in the empty slot while the other shall serve as a substitute to Andrew Flintoff, who has planned to skip this season. The Super Kings also roped in former ICL cricketer Hemang Badani and local all-rounder Ganapathy.
The Super Kings started their tournament against the defending champions, Deccan Chargers, in a home match. They lost the match by 31 runs. The Super Kings a roller-coaster ride throughout the tournament. They did not play their best in the first half of the tournament due to which they lost the majority of the matches they played. But the Super Kings made an admirable comeback by winning 5 of the matches played in the latter half of the season. This boosted their Net Run Rate, which ultimately proved to be the factor leading to their qualification for the semi-finals as three other teams were also tied on points. The Super Kings defeated the defending champions Deccan Chargers to qualify for the IPL final. The win also assured them a place in the Champions League Twenty20.
The final match of IPL 2010 (Chennai Super Kings vs. Mumbai Indians) was played on 25 April 2010 on the DY Patil Stadium. M S Dhoni(Captain - CSK) won the toss and elected to bat. Chennai Super Kings scored 168 for 5 at the end of 20 Overs. Mumbai Indians scored 146 for 9 at the end of 20 overs and hence lost the match by 22 runs. Man of the match: Suresh Raina(Chennai Super Kings). Finally the Chennai Super Kings were crowned the winners of the Indian Premier League. This is also the first time an Indian captain won this tournament. The first IPL season was won by Rajasthan Royals captained by Shane Warne, and the second IPL Season was won by the Deccan Chargers captained by Adam Gilchrist.

i5 vs i7 PROCESSOR
i5 vs. i7: What it Means to Consumers and Power Users
Overall, the new Core i5 processors are far more evolutionary than revolutionary. While these new processors are actually quite a bit different from the Core i7 processors currently available, many features, such as the enhanced turbo boost and dual-channel memory, are shared with new Core i7 processors. The difference between Core i5 and Core i7, then, will be somewhat dependent on which particular Core i7 one is comparing Core i5 to.
Even so, Core i5 is clearly meant to be a more mainstream processor. Those who use their computers for heavily multi-thread applications will miss hyper-threading and the triple-channel memory, which means that a Core i7 on an LGA1366 socket will be best. For most us, however, Core i5 is more cost effective (it's available for around $200), and quite adequate for our needs.

SALEM:MY NATIVE
Salem pronunciation (help·info) (Tamil: சேலம்) is a city and a corporation in Salem district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, located in the north central part of the southernmost state of India. It is the 5th largest Municipal Corporation and Urban agglomeration in Tamil Nadu next to Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy.
Early History:
The name Salem appears to have been derived from hai or Shalya or Sayilam which are found in inscriptions referring to the country around the hills. Salem and the hilly region around it were part of the Chera and Kongu country in ancient times. They were ruled by their own Kongu Kings who were the Kurunila Mannargal of ancient Tamilnadu. Local folklore has it that the region around Salem was the birthplace of the Tamil poetess Avvaiyar. Inscriptions from the Ganga dynasty have been recovered from parts of the district. The city lies in the middle of Kongu Nadu.
Entertainment:
Cinema Theatres:
Salem has long been established as a city of cinema theatres. It was unique in having a large number of cinema theatres at a particular place called Kitchipalayam.
In 80s at the peak there was almost 28 theatres showing all kind of cinemas including Hollywood movies, Dubbed movies and old movies. But currently there are about 15 theatres there as some of them were closed and even now there are about 15 theatres functioning. Some of the famous theatres are
Sapna, Santham, Santosh, SANGEETH COMPLEX,(2 screen) ARRS Multiplex (5 screen) geethalaya BIG CINEMAS(KS Theatre), RAJ SABARI BIG CINEMAS keethana& ramana( 2 screen), etc.
Modern Theatres: Modern Theaters Ltd was a motion picture movie studio in Salem, Tamil Nadu, India, started by Thiruchengodu Ramalingam Sundaram (aka TRS) in 1935. The studio produced over more than 150 movies until 1982 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Sinhalese and even English of which Tamil movies were the majority.
In the early 1930s, T.R. Sundaram entered the world of Tamil cinema as a partner of a Salem-based film company, Angel Films. He was involved in productions such as Draupadi Vastrapaharanam (1934), Dhruva (1935) and Nalla Thangal (1935). Then he decided to start his own company, Modern Theatres Limited. He realized that to make film making a business, it had to be organized and managed like a business enterprise. He also planned a schedule of producing films on a tight budget (two or three a year), so that the market and consumers were regularly and continually supplied with his products. The maiden production of Modern Theatres, directed by T.R. Sundaram, was Sathi Ahalya, a mythological plot was released in 1937. Sundaram promoted Modern Theatres as a joint stock company and built a studio on a vast stretch of land on the outskirts of Salem town. The hundred odd films that came from his studio covered a wide spectrum of themes — mythology, comedy and original screenplays to adaptation of classic works of literature and murder mysteries. It is, however, the James Bond style of films starring Jaishankar that are almost synonymous with the banner. Following the Hollywood studio system, TRS had on his rolls writers, technicians, actors and so on. He paid generously and promptly, a rarity in the film circle.
Shopping Malls:
Salem is also emerging as one of the major shopping centers in the recent past. Saradha College Road and the Omalur Road have witnessed lots of growth in the shopping and retail portfolio, Swarnambigai Plaza, Kandaswarna Shopping Mall, V.V Shopping plaza, Tulsi Retail, Kandaswarna Mega Mall, Spencers, More for you,Shortly open Europa discount store.and also growing up northern salem areas. Nilgiris, Airport and so on.Also, ARRS MEGA MALL a mall with international standards with a theatre consisting of 8 screens is coming up.
There also a good number of hotels and restaurants present in the city.
Parks:
Annaa Park with facilities for children is situated near the Gandhi Stadium. Another park known as Mettur Park is located near the Mettur Dam. Salem also has a theme park named 'Paravasa Ulagam'.
Export commodities:
Salem is renowned for fabric exports, dating back to 1930's. Salem is the major exporter of fabric / cloth items until the recent development of Tirupur as a knitted garment export hub. Salem is also popular for its mangoes and are exported to different parts of the World. Plans are underway to build a mango pulp factory near Salem to export conditioned mango pulp.
Special Economic Zones (SEZ):
Being one of the fastest growing tier II cities, the Tamil Nadu government and ELCOT are planning to establish an IT park in Salem covering about 160 acres (0.65 km2).SAIL is planning a Steel SEZ inside the Salem Steel plant covering about 250 acres (1.0 km2)
There is an exclusive Electrical and Electronics Industrial Estate in the Suramangalam area of Salem city

FIREFOX
Firefox 4 Beta 3 Adds Windows 7 Multitouch Support
Arriving a week later than expected, the latest pre-release of the next major Firefox version adds just two headline features - Windows 7 multitouch support and a new way to represent JavaScript values.
In total, Firefox 4 Beta 3 includes 470 fixes and improvements. Firefox 4's most notable new features — tabs on top, WebM video support, the new JetPack extension system, and separate processes for plugins — have already surfaced in earlier betas and were covered in my hands on of Firefox 4 Beta.Windows 7 multitouch support is enabled through the Gecko 2.0 page layout engine's experimental support for proprietary MozTouch events. While Internet Explorer 8 includes touch support for things like zooming and navigating, the Firefox touch capabilities will allow Web developers to build applications that can accept touch input. The MozTouch events are similar to mouse events but add a "stream" for each finger used, along with "down," "up," and "move" actions.
Mozilla is making improvements to its JaegerMonkey JavaScript engine not only to speed it up in the face of stiff competition from the likes of Google Chrome, Opera, Apple Safari, and the upcoming IE9. This latest Firefox 4 beta release alters the way the browser's JavaScript engine handles JavaScript values. These, also called "jvals" are now represented using 64 bits instead of 32. Mozilla's release notes for beta 3 claim that the change "allows Firefox to execute heavy, numeric code (used for things like graphics and animations) more efficiently."
